The awards are given to support centers with four or more employees at which each member has earned an HDI certification. HDI awarded 28 teams this year – six (21 percent) of which went to NuAxis. In total, 16 NuAxis teams have received this award since 2013.

“By utilizing HDI standards, training programs and certifications, we ensure that all of our customer facing support staff possess the knowledge and skills to both consistently solve our client’s technical issues and to better connect on a more human, customer-centric level,” said NuAxis Vice President of Service Management, Bob Roark. “Over time this critical investment has provided functional support that demonstrates clear value in relation to the business needs of the organizations we serve.”

HDI Certifications recognize the breadth of knowledge required to provide IT support, document the skills needed by practitioners and provide leadership to the industry as a whole. NuAxis Innovations Ranks 457 of Fastest Growing Companies in North America on Deloitte’s 2016 Technology Fast 500™

Ten years as an electrical engineer. Three advanced degrees. Fourteen years as CEO of NuAxis Innovations, a fast-growing IT support contractor for the Federal Government with 29 contracts and 375 employees in 22 states. Imran Akram has led a life full of impressive numbers—all made possible by a 5,328 mile trip from Lahore to London at 15 years old.

This cross-continental road trip from Pakistan to London with his father helped him realize his passion for exploration and learning—motivating him to found his own company, NuAxis Innovations, which today was ranked 457 on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™.

“I was incredibly lucky to have the experience to travel at a young age,” said Akram, CEO of NuAxis Innovations. “It was through these experiences that I realized how important it is to learn about other people and their cultures—ultimately inspiring me to seek new adventures and higher education in the United States. I have been fortunate enough to live here for 29 years and to meet and work with so many great people.”

The 2016 Deloitte Fast 500 is a list of the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in North America. NuAxis grew 134 percent between 2012 and 2015, the period considered for this year’s award.

NuAxis has seen rapid growth over the past few years, acquiring a significant portfolio of contracts with the federal government. It holds a long-standing contract with the Department of Labor (NuAxis provides the department’s Enterprise Service Desk) and multiple contracts supporting the Department of Interior with its Customer Support Center and Managed Desktop Support.

“It is an honor to be included as part of this prestigious list and to be recognized for the hard work and dedication of our team,” said Akram. “We take a lot of pride in providing innovative solutions to the federal government and hope to continue growing in the federal space.”

NuAxis was recently named one of the largest government contractors and a top minority-owned business by the Washington Business Journal, listed on the Inc. 5000 and the Virginia Fantastic 50 and named a Significant Mover by Govini.

NuAxis Ranks 2,641 on Inc. Magazine’s Annual List of America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies

When faced with the decision to follow the dot com craze of the late ‘90s or stick to his engineering roots, one CEO made the tough choice that, today, landed his rapidly growing company on the Inc. 5000 list of the country’s fastest-growing privately held companies.

Imran Akram, NuAxis Innovations’ CEO, founded the company with his wife in 2002. He took the plunge into entrepreneurship when the company he was working for decided to shift away from services and focus on products, leaving Akram’s client, the United States National Park Service (NPS), in need of a replacement service provider.

“I, of course, had no idea that the dot com bubble would burst. I just knew that the NPS and Department of Interior still needed the services I provided as an engineer, so I made the decision to follow that path,” said Akram. “The NPS and I had built a very strong relationship over the years and they wanted to continue working with me, so I decided to set up a company to continue supporting them.”

NuAxis started with just Akram and his wife working with just one agency. Within 3 years, he had 30 employees. Today, 15 years after he founded NuAxis Innovations, the company continues to serve NPS, but now also holds sizeable prime contracts with other federal agencies (including the departments of Interior and Labor) and has grown to more than 350 employees in 22 states.

Exemplifying that growth is the honor the company has received today: Inc. Magazine ranked NuAxis Innovations NO. 2,641 on its 36th annual Inc. 5000 List, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs.

“We are so excited to be recognized for our growth and achievements with inclusion on this prestigious list,” said Akram. “NuAxis has been expanding rapidly over the past few years and we look forward to continuing on this path while helping government agencies solve their IT challenges.”

The annual Inc. 5000 event honoring all the companies on the list will be held from October 18 through 20, 2016 in San Antonio. Companies such as Yelp, Pandora, Timberland, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, LinkedIn, Zillow and many other well-known names gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 5000.

NuAxis Innovations Recognized for Growth by Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Washington Business Journal, and Govini

When Lindsey Tepp started working at NuAxis Innovations right after college graduation in 2009, the company had only two contracts and no more than 30 employees.

“Raza [Latif, COO] and Imran [Akram, CEO] had a vision for NuAxis and laid out a plan to position us for growth and expansion – one proposal at a time,” said Tepp, now manager of business development (and one of 350 employees) at NuAxis, a fast-growing leader of government IT infrastructure. “I remember our first big win came on Christmas Eve that first year I started and really confirmed all of our hard work and the potential for growth and success.”

Seven years later, Tepp has come a long way – and so has NuAxis: the company was awarded a Fantastic 50 Award and named one of the fastest-growing companies in the commonwealth by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

All 50 awardees were announced at the Fantastic 50 Networking Reception and Awards Banquet last night (April 28 at 6 p.m.) in Chantilly, Va. at the Westfields Marriott. The award is in its 21st year of celebrating entrepreneurial success and winners’ contributions to Virginia’s economic vitality. Based on four-year total growth rates, NuAxis is number #46 across all service categories.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of Virginia’s fastest growing companies,” said Akram. “NuAxis has been expanding rapidly and it is an honor to be included in the list with other successful businesses from around the commonwealth.”

NuAxis was also named one of the largest government contractors and a top minority-owned business of 2015 by the Washington Business Journal and a Significant Mover by Govini this year. Leadership attributes the company’s growth to hiring the right people with the right potential over the last half decade as well as a focus on the maturation of back-office infrastructure and business development processes.

“As we continue to grow, we are hiring the best of the best and hope to provide our services at an exponential rate to government agencies across the nation,” said Latif. “We mapped out what we wanted to do and then mapped out our growth to reach those goals.”

Since its founding in 2002, NuAxis has acquired a significant portfolio of contracts with the federal government. It holds a long-standing contract with the Department of Labor (NuAxis provides the department’s Enterprise Service Desk) and multiple contracts supporting the Department of Interior with their Customer Support Center and Managed Desktop Support.
